Chloë Holt RCA FRSA - “Casa De Salinas”

Chloë Holt RCA FRSA - “Casa De Salinas”

A richly worked painting by Chloë Holt inspired by Seville’s Casa de las Salinas. A Triana green jar emerges through layered, fractured paint, where surface, light and material evoke a sense of permanence.

"Case De Las Salinas is a 16th Century Renaissance period house in the centre of Seville. The central courtyard is designed in a traditional layout which has been used since Roman times, creating a cool and tranquil space. In the 16th Century the owners noble family Jaén, appear among the most active merchants and financiers in Seville.

The red ochre walled courtyard is adorned with Moorish, Medieval and Renaissance objects and architectual elements. A pair of dark Triana green jars to transport precious oils and spices sit upon iron trivets.

The spaces whispers of the past and the jars have a monolithic presence evocative of a strong soul and spirit.”

Original painting by Chloë Holt RCA FRSA. One of the youngest artists ever to be elected a member of the RCA. Winner of the 2012 Kyffin Williams Drawing Prize, Chloe also, in 2010 won the International Lorenzo il Magnifico prize by the Florence Biennale for works on paper.

Oil, mixed media and gesso on board, invisible box frame to back approx 5cm deep.
